Michael Michaud is a Ph.D. student in the Disaster Science and Management Program. In 2007 he graduated from Lyndon State College (now Northern Vermont University – Lyndon) with a degree in Atmospheric Science. While at Lyndon State, Michael participated in the Verification of the Origin of Rotation in Tornados EXperiment 2 (VORTEX2) field experiment in 2010. This experience opened his eyes to the human impacts of severe weather firsthand. After graduating, Michael spent several years working within the higher education system. He earned his Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Utah in 2016. His Master’s research focused on administrator response and student involvement during campus crises. At the University of Delaware, he hopes to further understand the human impacts of severe weather and improve public education systems around them.
