BIOGRAPHY
Justin Jacoby Smith is a Masters student in the Disaster Science and Management program. After earning a Bachelor’s in English in Texas in 2008, Justin moved to the Northeast and became an active participant in the Occupy Wall Street movement in 2011, initiating a decade of political organizing work geared toward generating collective action. Through this work, and eight years of communal life with the Love+Solidarity Collective, his interests developed to include mutual aid disaster relief, the processes and ingredients of social solidarity, and the political economy and historicization of catastrophes.
