BIOGRAPHY
Tara Wiggins has joined the Disaster Research Center as Senior Grant Analyst. She has more than 15 years of grant experience as both a grantee and grantor. Most recently Tara worked with New Foundations Charter School in Philadelphia securing and managing more than $15 million in federal and state funds as the Grants and Compliance Manager. Prior to that she worked for the State of Delaware, Department of Health and Social Services in the State Office of Volunteerism with the AmeriCorps*Delaware national service program granting funds to nonprofits, community-based organizations, and educational institutions to address critical needs facing our communities. In addition to supporting external agencies, Tara and team ensured AmeriCorps funding to support the State Office of Volunteerism and its programs, projects and events.
Tara received her Master’s from University of Louisiana Monroe, earned her Bachelor’s from Howard University and participated in UD’s Nonprofit Management Course. She is originally from NJ, but currently resides in Newark, DE with her husband, a Red Clay School District teacher, her 3 children, and their dog, Jackson the Wonderpup. As an AmeriCorps Alum, Tara is still committed to service and regularly volunteers, although currently most of her “free” time is spent at youth sports and activities.
