BIOGRAPHY

Sue McNeil is Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Public Policy and Administration at University of Delaware. She is also a Core faculty member in the Disaster Research Center at University of Delaware and Director of the Disaster Science and Management graduate program. Her research and teaching interests focus on transportation infrastructure management with emphasis on the application of advanced technologies, economic analysis, analytical methods, and computer applications. Her most recent research includes the impact of natural hazards on physical infrastructure and asset management.

Dr. McNeil is a recipient of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Harland Bartholomew Award (2011), the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University (2009), the Slocomb Excellence in Teaching Award from the College of Engineering, University of Delaware (2009), and the Convocation Medal for Professional Excellence from the University of Newcastle, Australia (2008).

Dr McNeil has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Transportation Research Board and the Board on Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment. She chaired the Transportation Research Board Committee on Asset Management from 2004 to 2010 and is an Emeritus Member of the committee. She is a founding Associate Editor for the ASCE Journal of Infrastructure Systems and became the Editor-in-Chief in July 2010. She is a registered professional engineer.​
