Support the Disaster Research Center

After 50 years of excellence in research, training, and service in the disaster community, the Disaster Research Center continues to pioneer advances in disaster research.

Giving back to the Disaster Research Center allows us:

  • to advance interdisciplinary research on preventing and managing disasters;
  • to further our commitment to graduate and undergraduate research training, especially through the Disaster Science and Management Program;
  • to strengthen The E. L. Quarantelli Resource Collection as the world’s most complete collection on the social and behavioral science aspects of disasters;
  • and to expand our portfolio of seven hundred field studies in the aftermath of disasters, catastrophes, and community crises.

Student Professionalism

DRC believes that students are essential to the Center's research and service mission. External grants typically support students to present work on funded projects. However, gifts to DRC allowed us to support, in 2016, an additional 15 students to present their independent research and participate in meetings both in the US and abroad.

With gratitude, these are just a few of the students you helped support this year:

The Enrico L. Quarantelli Memorial Funds

Professor Enrico L. Quarantelli

Professor Enrico L. Quarantelli established three funds to support disaster research, education, and scholarship. Those wishing to honor the memory of DRC co-founder and Professor Emeritus Enrico L. (Henry) Quarantelli may consider making a gift to the following funds.

The E. L. Quarantelli Scholars in Disaster Social Science Research Endowment Fund

The Quarantelli Scholars Fund will help support University of Delaware students pursuing disaster-related studies in the social sciences.

The E. L. Quarantelli Field Research Endowment Fund

The Quarantelli Field Research Fund will help to continue Disaster Research Center's longstanding tradition of quick-response field work and other field deployments.

The E. L. Quarantelli Resource Collection

The collection is used and visited annually by scholars and officials from around the world. Donations to the resource collection, the world's largest specialized disaster library, will enable continued acquisition and preservation of disaster books, periodicals, articles, consultant reports, artifacts, and other items.
