Student Professionalism
DRC believes that students are essential to the Center's research and service mission. External grants typically support students to present work on funded projects. However, gifts to DRC allow us to support, additional graduate students to present their independent research and participate in meetings both in the US and abroad.
Preservation of Disaster Knowledge
DRC is committed to creating, gathering and disseminating disaster knowledge in dynamic and responsive ways. Because of donations made in support of the E.L.Q. Resource Collection, we add thousands of new items annually to the Resource Collection; support the studies of University of Delaware students from multiple disciplines, including Disaster Science and Management, Sociology, Public Policy, and Administration and Geography; and provide vital and unique research resources to scholars from around the world, both digitally and in person!
Quick Response Studies & Field Research Experience
Since its founding, DRC has been a leader in advancing the state of the art in disaster research and its scientifically guided practice. Students gain tremendous field experience through these deployments, and often they set the stage for future dissertation projects that make valuable contributions to science and practice. Donations made to DRC will help support field research travel for our students in the years to come.
