| | Newark, DE 19716 | <div class="ExternalClass1A4DD73566BA496E9FE63263BBECAE78"><p>Nancy Contreras is a doctoral student at the University of Delaware studying criminology.
She earned a master's degree in criminal justice from the University of Colorado Denver,
and her master's thesis explores social media use and perceived police-community
relations. Nancy is a Bill Anderson Fund Fellow. Her research interests explore racialized
criminalization, intersections of inequality, and community responses to violence. She has
conducted a multi-year mixed-method ethnographic study of race-based culture-specific
programming. Nancy is currently conducting an international qualitative study of Central
American and Mexican transit migration to the United States-Mexico border addressing
topics such as legal violence, vulnerability, and community resiliency. She has presented
her research at both domestic and international conferences. Nancy's previous practitioner
experience includes providing services for women experiencing homelessness, group
