Francisco is a public health physician from Colombia who has walked a long journey in the fields of preparedness and response to disasters and public health emergencies while working with the Colombian Red Cross and the National Institute of Health of Colombia. During the 4 years previous to the beginning of his doctoral studies, he worked as a consultant in hospital and community disaster preparedness projects in Colombia. He holds a Master in Disaster Medicine from the University of Eastern Piedmont (Italy) and the Free University of Brussels (Belgium), a Master of Public Health from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (Israel) and a specialty in general epidemiology from El Bosque University (Colombia). He has continuously been a lecturer of health in disasters in different undergraduate and graduate programs in Bogotá, Colombia. His research interests are community emergence, organization and improvisation; hospital disaster preparedness and public health emergencies.
