Melissa L. Brown de Gerena is currently a Ph.D. student in the Disaster Science and Management program at UD. She comes to the University with over a decade of teaching experience at both the collegiate and secondary levels, as well as in the forensic science realm. Her focus at UD combines those fields in the form of mass fatality incidents and the surge of data and information that happens during and post-disaster. Melissa is currently working with NIST's Organization of Scientific Area Committees for Forensic Science (OSAC) on Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) to predict the surge in data in mass fatality incidents in order to better prepare local jurisdictions for the manpower and technology needs they may require.
