BIOGRAPHY
Shangjia Dong is the Bentley Systems Early Career Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering, a core faculty member of the Disaster Research Center (DRC) at the University of Delaware, and an Early Career Research Fellow at the National Academy of Sciences Gulf Research Program. His research revolves around understanding the complex dynamics between human and infrastructure systems during disasters. He aims to establish an algorithmic framework to assess smart city resilience. Dong received Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from Oregon State University, following which he completed post-doctoral research training at Texas A&M University. His work is funded by NSF, NIST, NOAA, Delaware Department of Transportation, and the University of Delaware Research Foundation.
