Message from the Director: Rachel Davidson, PhD

While hurricane season hasn’t started yet, the Hub has been very active already this year. We have good news to share regarding the accomplishments and activities of our team members, and we encourage you to read on to hear about some of our major highlights from the last few months.
Perhaps one of our greatest accomplishments so far has been on CHEER’s research front. Look no further than our Research Products page. Our team has published four new papers since the start of the year! Notably, the Hub has made major progress on developing the Stakeholder-based Tool for the Analysis of Regional Risk (STARR) Framework. At the same time, the Hub’s students and postdocs have been traveling across the country to present at various conferences and events.
The Hub has also been ramping up its outreach and education activities. Registration is still open for Jingya Wang’s Ocean Decade Video Competition. Keep your eyes open for when the winners are announced in May! The Hub is also pleased to announce its 2025 Summer Scholars, who will be beginning their journey in Greenville, NC, in May.
The Hub has already had a busy year—with more to come!—and we hope you’ll enjoy this issue of The CHEER Chronicle to see what we’ve been up to. Feel free to forward this edition to anyone who might be interested in subscribing. We also invite you to join our LinkedIn page, where you can stay up-to-date with the latest Hub highlights and learn about the accomplishments of our outstanding researchers, students, and partners. As always, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at any time with your feedback, questions, or thoughts about our work.
